Media Studies essay;-
My Thriller Character
My thriller character’s name is ‘The fear’ obviously that is not his real name but you do not know much about him in the first place, and you never really do. When you first see him all you see is his trooper shades and he is talking to another man and all you see of the other man is a gun pressed quite firmly to his forehead, and you can see the sweat pouring from, what looks like the victim at this point. They have a conversation about whether he should spare his life or not. Then ‘the fear’ says so be it and you see the gun being pressed harder in to his forehead then suddenly a loud bang but not of the bullet as you first think but of the door slamming from the room that they are in and the camera turns quickly towards the door and you see a long leather coat vanish to the right through the door then, the heart beat sound effect that was continuously going through the whole conversation stops and you hear a loud gasp of breath from the ‘victim’.
When you finally see the character fully clothed, he is wearing a bright clean white shirt and a blood red bow around his neck, the shirt is tucked in to black pinstripe trousers with two toned spats, but no socks. His behaviours consist of being very quiet and does not speak much but when he does speak he come out with very clever and witty phrases, the sort of phrases that makes you stop and think about what he just said. He comes across as a creepy and quite scary character as he is so mysterious and you do not know much about him, the only weapon’s he ever uses are silent/ quiets weapons such as knifes and silenced guns, and he never kills anyone if he doesn’t have to either stuns them or uses them as weapons such as a human shield and pushes in to other people trying to get him.
The reason why he is so mysterious also is because his wife and children were killed by a pointless drive by, by a gang. He hates all gangs and try’s to avoid all gangsters at all costs and is trying to find out who did this to his family!

Well done Fin - there's some nice detail here.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit uneven though and ... genre unspecific? For instance calling him 'the fear' seems comic strip ... which is fine ... but for a brief moment I felt more than 2D for him as the beads of sweat appeared on his forehead. The wife and child story seemed a bit of an after thought ... but this might be more to do with paragraphing than your conception of the hero.
Work on this a little ... it really has potential.
