Leon
Thriller opening research
‘Leon’ starts off with a quite flute as the camera scans across the sea and then as soon as the camera comes in view of the tree’s a natural sound track that reminds you of the jungle, then the opening credit’s start to come up. The sound track keeps going until, you see the sky line of the city and a mysterious sound starts to play introducing the viewer to the thriller and mysterious dangerous essence of the film almost instantly even though nothing serious has happened yet. The camera then after a glimpse of the city blink’s in to the streets of the city travelling like a car around the city. After the credit’s the camera, shows two men sitting at a table, one smoking and talking and the other with shades on and all you can see of the two men is the eyes also when you fist see them they are both speaking a different language. Then suddenly the man smoking say’s ‘Down to business’ and he starts to talk about a man referred as a fat bastard (the fat bastard is shown on a black and white photo graph, showing probably that the fat bastard is history or more likely soon will be.) and is telling ‘Leon’ (who is finishing a glass of milk) that he need’s to understand that he must not be seen again! And finishes off with are you free Tuesday? And Leon replies with ‘yes I am free Tuesday!’ and when Leon finishes the first words he say’s and finishes his glass of milk he slam’s it on the table (I thought that the milk is important as Leon is always drinking milk through the whole film) and a murderous thud introducing a classic thriller sound track! Enhancing that this character mean’s business and something thrilling is about to happen. The sound track continues until the view of the spiral stair case and the guy that peer’s over gets pulled down and there is a load scream! And there is a sudden halt in the music, as you hear the man screaming and when the screaming stop’s the camera view switches from the stairs to the man watching the screen’s and you see the screen’s turn off! The music start’s up again and the music goes really up beat as the man is running around the building and breathing really deeply

Media Studies essay;-
My Thriller Character
My thriller character’s name is ‘The fear’ obviously that is not his real name but you do not know much about him in the first place, and you never really do. When you first see him all you see is his trooper shades and he is talking to another man and all you see of the other man is a gun pressed quite firmly to his forehead, and you can see the sweat pouring from, what looks like the victim at this point. They have a conversation about whether he should spare his life or not. Then ‘the fear’ says so be it and you see the gun being pressed harder in to his forehead then suddenly a loud bang but not of the bullet as you first think but of the door slamming from the room that they are in and the camera turns quickly towards the door and you see a long leather coat vanish to the right through the door then, the heart beat sound effect that was continuously going through the whole conversation stops and you hear a loud gasp of breath from the ‘victim’.
When you finally see the character fully clothed, he is wearing a bright clean white shirt and a blood red bow around his neck, the shirt is tucked in to black pinstripe trousers with two toned spats, but no socks. His behaviours consist of being very quiet and does not speak much but when he does speak he come out with very clever and witty phrases, the sort of phrases that makes you stop and think about what he just said. He comes across as a creepy and quite scary character as he is so mysterious and you do not know much about him, the only weapon’s he ever uses are silent/ quiets weapons such as knifes and silenced guns, and he never kills anyone if he doesn’t have to either stuns them or uses them as weapons such as a human shield and pushes in to other people trying to get him.
The reason why he is so mysterious also is because his wife and children were killed by a pointless drive by, by a gang. He hates all gangs and try’s to avoid all gangsters at all costs and is trying to find out who did this to his family!
