Task 6: A blog entry that answers these three questions
1. What planning did you do for your filming task, and how did this planning aid in the filming?
We created a story board, a shooting map and a shot list, to aid in our filming. The storyboard consisted of every single shot & a drawing of what the shot would look like.
The shot list said what each individual take would be and how it would be filmed. For example a high angle panning shot.
And finally the shooting map showed where the characters will be when taking particular shots which directions they will be walking in, and where the camera will be.
What camera and editing techniques and codes did you use in your film and how do they influence the audience’s understanding of the film?
In our film we took lots of different types of shots, such as;-
- still shots tracking shots, jump cuts, point of view shots, panning shots over shoulder, wide angle shots, long shots, high angle shot and finally a zooming shot.
When we were editing our film we made certain pieces of the film in slow motion, we placed a soundtrack from the kill bill movie, we inserted titles and transitions so the film ran smoothly. We also edited the volume of certain bits so you could/ couldn’t hear bits we did/ didn’t want the viewers hearing.
How did you use new technologies in your construction, planning and evaluation.
I used lots of new technologies in the process of creating this filming task, such as the digital camcorder and its stand, the programme ‘adobe premiere elements’ came in very useful when we editing our film and finishing it off, with this programme we created a great feel to our film with a great sound track transitions and effects such as slow motion.
Overall I think I preformed very well in this task and I have picked up a few useful skills to carry on to when we start our thriller films and future projects. Such as stable camera style and when using, ‘Adobe Premiere Elements’ I am now fairly confident that I can complete a task like this fairly quickly and efficiently.

Cosmetics Advert
My target Audience is mainly the women society and women who need to believe in themselves, and need to think ‘I know I can’ and so when people purchase this perfume they will feel more confident in the world and believe that they can achieve anything. Or at least make them more confidant.
The advert could be shown as posters and in magazines. As it is very eye catching and there is enough information, encase they are interested hat they can go and find out more about the product and will be able to find it in a cosmetics shop.
The Advert is seen in a female perspective as, the main colour pallet is shades of pink, and the eye that dominates the advert is seen as a female eye, and the font of the advert has also got a hint of fen-minim to it.
These modern technologies and programmes have made making this advert massively easier as they simplify everything so it can be done very quickly and simply but, still with great affect.
This advert I think very clearly represents the feminine social group as it has a general feminine feel to it. As the colours and the girl eye show this well.

LIFE ON MARS
Life on mars is all about a police officer from the 21st century has an accident and wakes up in 1973.
This screen shot of the movie is a extreme long shot, and maybe even a establishing shot. It shows allot about the programme and the dynamics of it. And if you study this screen shot more and more you find in it. Here is what i found out.
This picture includes the tower block in the distance representing modern England and the 21st century.

This picture includes the tower block in the distance representing modern England and the 21st century.
- the detached houses in the foreground represent the 1960's and as you can see they are separated by the title of the programme ' life on mars.' showing that this is where the drama is based really. in between the two very different worlds
- one other thing that you notice is that there are dark clouds and a non pleasant atmosphere. where as over the 1960's detached houses there is a beam of light and you feel as if there is a nice, warm atmosphere around those houses.
This screen shot was before the one above in the programme and is a great screen shot of the modern society. This screen shot is in the opening sequence in episode, between credits and an extreme close up of the front wheel of a car going at high speeds on a main city road in present day, Manchester. The colour palate is mixtures of gray, which connotes bleakness, motion and technology.
The forward motion of the car connotes the forward motion of time and how this moment in time is much further on in time. the low angle shot shows that in the 21st century is much more dominant 1973.
FRIDAY THE 13th LESSON
Identity. James Marygold. (2003)
the Opening scene consists of around 80 Shots.
most of them going very Quickly flicking through like a note book animation. Each shot was about 3 seconds long but most of them were less than a second as i said before they flick through very, very quickly.
The first scene starts off with voices over the opening credit that fades on a black back ground. it then cuts to a close up of a tape recorder playing, (as you can see the tape wheels moving) the tape recorder is in focus and everything else in the Mise-en-scene. what you guess is coming from the tape recorder playing is a man's voice reading a poem and then another man's voice asking where he learnt that. the camera keeps cutting to other close up shots of the tape recorder, and random pictures of children's drawings, and photos of murdered people and suspicious forms. All covered up by diegetic Sound the whole way through, occasionally you hear the tape rewinding.
The opening scene also consists of a medium shot of a man talking about his past and looking at all the odd documents, pictures and tapes. Whilst the man is looking at all these things the credits come on slowly and flicker off leaving the odd letter. The first scean seems to end as the music stops and the screen cuts to a close up of a phone ringing.

Leon
Thriller opening research
‘Leon’ starts off with a quite flute as the camera scans across the sea and then as soon as the camera comes in view of the tree’s a natural sound track that reminds you of the jungle, then the opening credit’s start to come up. The sound track keeps going until, you see the sky line of the city and a mysterious sound starts to play introducing the viewer to the thriller and mysterious dangerous essence of the film almost instantly even though nothing serious has happened yet. The camera then after a glimpse of the city blink’s in to the streets of the city travelling like a car around the city. After the credit’s the camera, shows two men sitting at a table, one smoking and talking and the other with shades on and all you can see of the two men is the eyes also when you fist see them they are both speaking a different language. Then suddenly the man smoking say’s ‘Down to business’ and he starts to talk about a man referred as a fat bastard (the fat bastard is shown on a black and white photo graph, showing probably that the fat bastard is history or more likely soon will be.) and is telling ‘Leon’ (who is finishing a glass of milk) that he need’s to understand that he must not be seen again! And finishes off with are you free Tuesday? And Leon replies with ‘yes I am free Tuesday!’ and when Leon finishes the first words he say’s and finishes his glass of milk he slam’s it on the table (I thought that the milk is important as Leon is always drinking milk through the whole film) and a murderous thud introducing a classic thriller sound track! Enhancing that this character mean’s business and something thrilling is about to happen. The sound track continues until the view of the spiral stair case and the guy that peer’s over gets pulled down and there is a load scream! And there is a sudden halt in the music, as you hear the man screaming and when the screaming stop’s the camera view switches from the stairs to the man watching the screen’s and you see the screen’s turn off! The music start’s up again and the music goes really up beat as the man is running around the building and breathing really deeply

Media Studies essay;-
My Thriller Character
My thriller character’s name is ‘The fear’ obviously that is not his real name but you do not know much about him in the first place, and you never really do. When you first see him all you see is his trooper shades and he is talking to another man and all you see of the other man is a gun pressed quite firmly to his forehead, and you can see the sweat pouring from, what looks like the victim at this point. They have a conversation about whether he should spare his life or not. Then ‘the fear’ says so be it and you see the gun being pressed harder in to his forehead then suddenly a loud bang but not of the bullet as you first think but of the door slamming from the room that they are in and the camera turns quickly towards the door and you see a long leather coat vanish to the right through the door then, the heart beat sound effect that was continuously going through the whole conversation stops and you hear a loud gasp of breath from the ‘victim’.
When you finally see the character fully clothed, he is wearing a bright clean white shirt and a blood red bow around his neck, the shirt is tucked in to black pinstripe trousers with two toned spats, but no socks. His behaviours consist of being very quiet and does not speak much but when he does speak he come out with very clever and witty phrases, the sort of phrases that makes you stop and think about what he just said. He comes across as a creepy and quite scary character as he is so mysterious and you do not know much about him, the only weapon’s he ever uses are silent/ quiets weapons such as knifes and silenced guns, and he never kills anyone if he doesn’t have to either stuns them or uses them as weapons such as a human shield and pushes in to other people trying to get him.
The reason why he is so mysterious also is because his wife and children were killed by a pointless drive by, by a gang. He hates all gangs and try’s to avoid all gangsters at all costs and is trying to find out who did this to his family!
